| Frank Verheijen holds a M.Sc. in Physical Geography at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) on the research topic of soil water repellency caused by soil organic matter underneath three dominant shrub species. Subsequently I completed a Ph.D. at the National Soil Resources Institute, Cranfield University (UK) on the research topic of soil organic carbon ranges and on-farm economic benefit from soil organic matter in England and Wales. My first Postdoctoral research position was at the same institute on the ENVASSO project, which aimed to harmonise EU soil monitoring. My second postdoctoral position was at Queen Mary, University of London (UK) on the research project ‘effects of fire on peatland carbon stocks and dynamics’. Since 2008 Postdoctoral researcher at the Joint Research Centre (JRC), Ispra (Italy) Main work is on the iSOIL project: an FP7 project funded by DG RTD and dealing with new technologies for assessing soil properties along depth accurately and with high resolution by combining existing sensors as well as exploring emerging technologies (chiefly geophysical). |
