eSoter Danube

On 5-6 February 2015, JRC organized a workshop to start the development of a 1:250,000 soil database for the Danube Basin using eSOTER methodology.

The main scope of the meeting was for the representatives of national soil data institutions to be informed of the methodology underpinning the development of the new harmonised soil database for the Danube Basin, to indicate specific elements that you would value as attributes and establish a feasible roadmap and timetable for implementation. Key researchers from the eSOTER FP7 project outlined the general approach and specific elements that underpin the methodology.

Country representatives summarised the state of digital soil data products for their country in relation to a target scale of 1:250,000, also summarising associated attribute tables and soil profile databases.

Background material for the meeting was the SOTER manual, as revised after the eSOTER project: http://www.isric.org/sites/default/files/ISRIC_Report_2013_04.pdf
