The following phases and activities have been executed in the pilot areas:
PHASE 1
- Suggestion of the pilot area by the partner specifying:
- Localization;
- Extension;
- Availability of soil data (soil maps and scale, number and type of observations, described features and analytical data);
- Environmental data availability (morphology, geology, vegetation data; maps and scales);
- Digital Elevation Model availability and its grid resolution;
- Availability of studies for application purposes (erosion, pollution, etc.).
- Precise definition of the pilot area, in agreement with the neighbouring partner and with the coordination group of the project (ARPA Veneto)
- First comments and suggestions on the exchange format worked out by ARPA Veneto
PHASE 2
- Subdivision of the area by 1 km pixels, according to the common reference grid proposed by the INSPIRE initiative (Eurogrid), to be provided by JRC Ispra.
- First attempt of filling in the exchange format for some of the pixels, with soil and environmental data.
- At least 2 field trips with the neighbouring partner, to compare soil description and evaluation methodologies and to better understand the main soil-landscape models of the area, in order to allow harmonization in the description of the features required in the exchange format.
- Meeting with the coordination group to discuss any problem that has arisen filling in the exchange format.
- Suggestions about changes and/or additions to the exchange format, both to items and to their description and coding.
PHASE 3
- Final filling in of the exchange format for all pixels of the area, according to the specified procedures describing in detail the path followed and the data sources (metadata)
- Final remarks about the exchange format, its items, their description and coding.
