1992 – 1994 Study of Applied Environmental Science at the Faculty of Environmental Science (FES) at the Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI). Hold a national diploma in Applied Environmental Science.

1998 - 2002 Study of physical/human geography, ecology and rangeland management at the Faculty of Life and Environmental Science at the University of Iceland (UI) and the FES at the AUI. Graduated with Bachelor of Science (UI).

2004 – 2007 MSc. in Restoration Ecology: “Ecological and visual evaluation of short term reclamation success”. FES, AUI.

2010 – A PhD student in the field of Restoration Ecology at the AUI. Research topic: “How to evaluate the socio/ecological effects of restoring natural capital of degraded ecosystems?”

2000 Research assistant at the Faculty of Life and Environmental Science at the UI. (Part time employment).

2001 – 2003 Consultant at the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland (SCS). Main topics: consulting farmers on sustainable land use and soil conservation - ecological restoration of damaged ecosystems. (Part time employment).

2003 – 2007 District expert and researcher at the SCS, Iceland. Main topics: consulting farmers on sustainable land use and soil conservation and participating in various research projects on ecological restoration.

2008 – 2009 Scientific Researcher at the SCS, Iceland. Main topics: participating in various research projects on ecological restoration, lecturing and facilitating within the UNU “Land Restoration Training Program” (unulrt.is) and involved in the Nordic project “Restoration of Damaged Ecosystems in the Nordic Counties” (reno.is).
