Portrait: Kabindra Adhikari

Kabindra Adhikari is graduated in 2000 in Agriculture (Soil science) from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Tribhuwan University, Nepal. He joined Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Nepal and has been working there as an Agriculture Instructor since 2001. He then received a scholarship for post-graduate study aboard. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Physical Land Resources (Soil science) in 2006 from Ghent University, Belgium, conducting research on soil spatial variability and its consequences on yield and quality of sugar beet crop at within-field scale in the Faculty of Soil Management and Soil Care of the university.

He joined European Commission - Joint Research Centre, Land management and Natural Hazards Unit as a Doctoral Researcher in October 2006 working closely with the research team on Monitoring the State of European Soils (SOIL) action.

His research work in the commission was related to the monitoring of soil water status based on digital soil functional maps for the development of guidelines and technical supports for soil use and soil conservation. He left JRC in October 2009.
