Portrait: Simon Jeffery
| Simon Jeffery graduated with an honours degree in Biological Sciences in 2003 from the University of Plymouth (UK). After taking time out to travel and work teaching English as a foreign language he returned to studying science. In 2007 he received his PhD in soil microbial ecology from Cranfield University (UK). His main interests lie in microbial ecology, specifically the interactions between microbial communities and ecosystem functioning with the majority of his experience pertaining to this interaction within the soil system. He joined the European Commission as a Grantholder (Category 30) in 2008, as part of the SOIL action working on soil biodiversity. |
